About Us

Robert Y. Simpkins

Dr. Robert Y. Simpkins, Sr., founder of the Global Networks, serves as Executive Director with over 30 years experience in responding to disasters. 
A native of Kentucky, Bob served as pastor for over 20 years in Kentucky and Tennessee, Staff Executive for the Kentucky Baptist Convention over 12 years and has been Executive Director for Global Networks since leaving the KBC to begin his dream of an International Networking agency, in 1997.
Bob has served on Executive Chapter Staff with American Red Cross, with Kentucky Emergency Management in funds disbursement and with KYVOAD (Ky. Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster), where he was instrumental in establishing the Kentucky Chapter of NVOAD (National Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster) and served two terms as its president.  He designed and built the first Disaster Response unit for Kentucky Baptist.  This unit was the first truly ‘Mass Feeding Unit’ in the SBC.  As assistant to the National Coordinator for Southern Baptist during major disasters, he was instrumental in establishing credibility in relationships with the American Red Cross and other Disaster Response units. 
Bob is currently professor for Newburgh Seminary, in the area of Emergency Response; a focus on preparing churches and their staff for dealing with Critical Incidents.  He is author of six books in this area of preparation.
His work with the churches and government of Honduras has created an open door to assist the country in meeting the tremendous need of caring for Honduran children.  Two major projects are in the developmental stages at this time
